Last weekend I had the opportunity to visit one of Brussels’ best hotels: Pillows Grand hotel at Place Rouppe. Ranked on number 5 on trip advisor, the expectations for this beautifully decorated hotel in the city centre were high.
The atmosphere in the hotel is all about ‘being at home’. You get welcomed in the sofa with a drink and one of the employees sitting next to you to look into your reservation. Definitely not your regular desk reception, but a way more friendly way to get to know the personnel, the hotel and ask about sightseeing in the neighborhood.
Moving on to the rooms, they totally matched my expectations. The amazingly furnished room with velvet carpet and more than amazing bed, makes you sleep like a baby while sleeping only 400 meters of Brussels’ “Manneken Pis”. While the hotel is very closely to the city centre, it’s a very calm environment and quiet hotel. And the pillows? Oh they were definitely awesome.
Besides the atmosphere and the friendly staff, the food served in the hotel’s restaurant was very good. A chef prepared us a lovely 3-course dinner. The candle light and the hotel’s setting made it one of my most romantic dinner dates in years.
For me breakfast is – after hygiene and atmosphere- one of the most important things about a hotel. And again this was exeptionally good with a unique concept. No walking to the buffet at Pillows Brussels. The staff comes to ask you what you’d like to drink, if you want hard boiled or scrambled eggs, brings you coffee and a beautiful plate of bread and pastries. Very personal, friendly and definitely how a weekend brunch should look.
My overall experience:
This hotel has a very personal approach with a touch of luxury. In a few months the hotel also opens a mini-spa with a sauna, hammam and gym. Pampering to the fullest!
Up til now, nothing but positive feedback. If there was a downside, it would be the bathroom you get in the standard rooms (pictures are from the suite). It was rather small and if you have a big beauty case like me, it was hard to fit because there was no place to store it properly. Overall a beautiful Instagram-proof hotel to visit
